The AMPERE Newsletter appears quarterly and covers short topical articles written
by experts in the field. Typically it also includes a profile, conference reports,
advertisements, a calendar of events and news items on various aspects of radio
frequency and microwave energy usage in the ISM frequency band, covering topics
broadly from 1 MHz to 30 GHz, although higher frequencies have also been covered.
It also highlights on promising new research developments to emanate from academe
and industry.

Another World Congress has come and gone. Orlando was once again the venue and Jon Binner of Loughborough University describes some of the highlights of this unique meeting which brought together delegates from all over the world.
The lead article is written by Thys Rossouw of CSIR in South Africa who describes a major development in recycling which todate has processed close to 200 tonnes of product. Thys gives a sense of excitement as the first monomer was produced and analysed but what a pity it did not quite tested "like a cabernet"!
In this issue also Gordon Andrews of Gama consultants replies to an article I wrote last in October highlighting some new development in combination cooking. Bob Schiffman also has sent a letter on the same issue.
Peter Luypaert and his colleague Carlo Groffils describe 4 MEAC on page, which concerns the development of a consultancy company that liaises with a number of collaborators such as manufacturers, users and so on.
Finally, sadly we announce the retirement of Bob Gale from the EUG who was responsible for the production of the Newsletter since its inception back in 1995. Those colleagues who came to the 1995 AMPERE conference at St John's College, Cambridge will remember Bob running a very efficient exhibition. Bob will continue to produce the Newsletter for the foreseeable future.
Editor, Ricky Metaxas, EUG, University of Cambridge, July 2000.
