Editor's Comments

Our AMPERE web site is now on stream and many members have already browsed through and found it very interesting. More developments are planned so keep on surfing.

The second International conference on Microwaves and Chemistry has just been held in the Palais de Congres in Juan-les-Pins near Antibes. Many congratulations to Professor Albert Gourdenne for spearheading this meeting under the auspices of AMPERE. A brief resume will be included in the next issue.

Mike Bond of EA Technology, describes a major co-operative R&D project in the development of a microwave-assisted furnace processing ceramics products. Many companies world-wide sent in products for evaluation. Production furnaces are being installed in traditional manufacturers premises.

Also in this issue, Anton Mavretic of Advanced Energy Inc. presents his company's involvement in RF power. He highlights their Electro-Rapid-Heating System (ERHS) which is based on the 50 Ohm principle and is capable of delivering heat to a variety of industrial processes.

The next major meeting point for AMPERE members will be at the University of Bayreuth in Germany which hosts the 8th in the serie of AMPERE conferences on high frequency and microwave processing under the chair of Professor M Willert-Porada. Do look through our web site which has a link direct to the conference web site to find out more details. Registration is now on-line, see page 6 for address of site.
