The AMPERE Newsletter

The AMPERE Newsletter appears quarterly and covers short topical articles written by experts in the field. Typically it also includes a profile, conference reports, advertisements, a calendar of events and news items on various aspects of radio frequency and microwave energy usage in the ISM frequency band, covering topics broadly from 1 MHz to 30 GHz, although higher frequencies have also been covered. It also highlights on promising new research developments to emanate from academe and industry.

Editorial

At Modena I stepped down as President. It was not as hard a decision as many have imagined simply because after conceiving
the idea of a European association in the mid 1980’s, staging the first conference at St John’s College in 1986, discussing with Serge
Lefeuvre and other colleagues the formation of AMPERE in the early 1990’s and leading it as President for the past ten years, it was
time that a younger member took over and offered a new perspective. I am confident that Professor Elias de los Reyes and the CM
will steer AMPERE in the right direction and help it fulfil its great potential. I would like to thank all the members, past and present,
of the CM and in particular Professor Jon Binner for always being available to offer advice at a moment’s notice. My profuse
thanks to John Gerling for agreeing to write the resume of the MODENA conference as well as providing the photos which appear
in this issue.
