Prof Serge Lefeuvre

It is with regret that AMPERE announces the death of Prof. Serge Lefeuvre.

Serge spent most of his working life at the Département Electronique, Energie Electrique & Automatique, ENSEEIHT, Toulouse Institut National Polytechnique, Toulouse, France, where he lectured and researched on numerous topics, including the use of microwaves in diverse applications pertinent to ISM (Industrial, Medical, and Scientific) frequencies.

His lectures at AMPERE conferences were very well attended, and he would invariably start by sketching a simple diagram on the board and stating:
“I had a little idea” — delighting his audience with something quite original, delivered in his inimitable style.

He was a great supporter of the Microwave and High Frequency Processing conference series, first held at St. John’s College, Cambridge (1986), then Arnhem (1989), and Nice (1991). In 1992, he assisted Ricky Metaxas in the formation of our association and suggested the adoption of the AMPERE acronym.

A full obituary will be published in the Newsletter in early July 2025. In the meantime, we offer sincere condolences to Marie Claude and his family.
